TrailSeeker — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-27
TrailSeeker is a Garmin Connect IQ watch app that helps you find nearby trails from OpenStreetMap and load them into your watch's navigation.
What data is used
- Approximate location. When you run a search, the app sends your current GPS coordinates, your chosen search radius, and trail type to the app's backend service to look up nearby trails. A coarse fix is used where available.
- Trail identifiers. When you open or navigate a trail, the app requests that trail's details and course file by its OpenStreetMap identifier.
What is not collected
- No account, name, email, or contact information.
- No tracking, advertising, or analytics identifiers.
- No continuous location logging — coordinates are sent only when you perform a search, and only to return nearby trails.
The backend service
Searches and course downloads are served by the app's backend service, which looks up trails from OpenStreetMap. Your coordinates are used only to answer the request and are not used to build a profile of you. Trail data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License.
Data stored on your device
Your favorite trails and app settings are stored locally on your watch and are not transmitted except as part of a trail/course request you initiate.
